Bestie is an AI caption generator for photos. Take or upload a picture, choose who is posting and the vibe, and it writes five captions that fit what is actually in the photo. Pick one, drag it onto the picture, and share it. It is in private preview, so access is by passcode or invite.

How the AI caption generator works

Most people do not skip captions because they have nothing to say. They skip them because a blank caption box is hard to stare at. Bestie fills that box with options that fit the photo, so the job changes from writing to picking.

The flow is built for a phone, because that is where photos get posted. Here is what happens from the first tap to the finished picture.

  1. Take a photo or choose one. The camera opens straight from the home screen. A selfie button uses the front camera, and a link below it opens your camera roll.
  2. Say who is posting. Choose it is me or someone else. For someone else, pick friend, sibling, partner, parent or coworker so the tone fits the relationship.
  3. Tap Flash it. The AI looks at the photo, including the pose, the setting, the light, the outfit and the mood, then writes five captions in the vibe you picked.
  4. Choose a caption and place it. Drag it anywhere on the picture and pinch with two fingers to make it bigger or smaller, so it never covers the part of the photo you care about.
  5. Share it. The finished picture goes to Instagram, Facebook, X or Snapchat through your phone's share sheet, or you can save it to your photos.

Because the AI reads the actual image, the captions mention what is really there. A sunset on a rock gets a different caption than a mirror selfie before a party. That is the difference between a caption generator that looks at your photo and one that hands everyone the same list of quotes.

Funny, cool, chill or cocky: pick your caption vibe

A good caption sounds like the person posting it. That is why Bestie asks for a vibe before it writes anything.

  • Funny: a joke or a sharp observation about the moment in the photo.
  • Cool: short, confident and a little mysterious.
  • Chill: relaxed and low effort, the kind of caption that says you did not try too hard.
  • Hype: loud and celebratory, good for birthdays, trips and big nights out.
  • Quote style: original lines that sound like a quote, written fresh so you are not borrowing anyone's words.

On top of the vibe there is a boldness setting for your own photos. Humble keeps things modest. Confident is calm and sure. Cocky is playful and in on the joke, like a caption that says looking this good should come with a countdown. Unbearable is cocky turned all the way up, and it is clearly a joke.

Cocky tends to be the one people actually post. Plain, polite captions are safe, but they are also the ones nobody uses. The trick is that cocky only works when it teases the moment and never puts anyone else down, and that is the rule the AI follows.

Captions for photos of someone else

Half of the photos on a phone are of other people. A sibling on a hike, a friend mid pose, a partner asleep on the couch. Writing a caption that teases them without crossing a line is harder than writing one about yourself, and that is exactly where people get stuck.

Choose someone else and Bestie switches from a boldness setting to a roast level. Sweet is affectionate with a small wink. Playful teases the pose or the moment. Savage is sharper and funnier, but still about the situation and never about anyone's looks or body.

For a friend posed dramatically on a rock at sunset, a playful caption might say posed like the mountain hired him. For someone hugging a tree on a trail, it might say hugging a tree like it owes him money. The joke is the pose. The person in the photo should laugh when they see it.

A good habit when you post someone else is to send them the picture and caption first. If they laugh, post it. If they hesitate, pick a different caption from the five.

Put the caption on your photo, then share it

Plenty of caption tools stop at the text and leave you to copy it somewhere else. Bestie puts the caption on the picture itself, so what you share is a finished image.

  • Drag the caption to the spot that works. Corners and the lower third usually keep faces clear.
  • Pinch with two fingers to resize it. Go big for a punchline and small for a quiet line.
  • Switch the color between ivory, pink and black so it reads against the photo.
  • Turn on all caps for a louder look, or leave it as written.

When it looks right, tap Share. Your phone's share sheet opens with the apps you already use, such as Instagram, Facebook, X and Snapchat. You can also save the picture or copy just the text. Instagram does not let any website post for you, so sharing to Instagram takes one extra tap inside the app. That is an Instagram rule, and every photo tool outside Instagram works the same way.

The preview focuses on still photos. Video platforms such as TikTok are not the target for now.

Caption ideas for every kind of photo

The AI writes new captions for each photo, but it helps to see the range. These examples show the style, with a pair for each common kind of picture.

New Year's Eve

Looking this good should come with a countdown.

Dressed for the next chapter before it started.

Mirror selfie

Just checking that the mirror still agrees.

Outfit approved, reflection confirmed.

Hike at sunset

The view is great, but I came for the lighting.

Sunset is doing the work and I am doing the posing.

Dinner with friends

Nobody eats until the photo is taken.

Good food, better company, best angle.

Group photo

Best behavior lasted about four seconds.

We clean up better than we act.

Dog photo

He thinks he is the main character, and he is right.

I walked him and he walked off with the whole photo.

Birthday

Another lap around the sun and the lighting got better.

Older, wiser and slightly better dressed.

How to write a good Instagram caption yourself

Even with a generator, it helps to know what makes a caption work. These are the habits behind the captions people actually remember.

  • Match the length to the photo. A big, busy photo can carry a longer caption. A clean, simple photo usually wants a few words.
  • Say one thing. A caption with one idea lands harder than a caption with three.
  • Add what the photo cannot show. The picture shows the view. The caption can say how it felt, or the joke you were thinking.
  • Ask a question when you want replies. A question gives people a reason to comment instead of only tapping like.
  • Keep hashtags few. One or two relevant ones are enough, and many places do not need them at all.
  • Read it out loud. If it sounds like something you would actually say, it is probably right.

A generator is most useful as a first draft. Pick the closest option and change a word or two until it sounds like you.

Why access is invite only right now

Bestie is in private preview. That is more than a mood. Every caption set uses real computing power to read a photo, so access is limited while the quality and the cost are tested with a small group.

There are two ways in. If you already have a passcode, enter it at the top of this page. If you do not, request an invite with your name and email, and a passcode is sent when a spot opens.

Members also get five plus ones. A plus one is a passcode you can hand to a friend, so the guest list grows through people who actually know each other. A friend who joins gets plus ones of their own.

Your photo and your privacy

To write captions, Bestie sends your photo to Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, along with the vibe and platform you picked. Bestie does not keep a copy of your photo on its own servers, and placing the caption on the picture happens on your phone.

The AI is told not to name or guess who is in a photo, and not to write captions that mock anyone's looks or body. Your passcode is kept in a cookie on your device so you do not have to type it every time, and the site counts how many caption sets each passcode makes per day. The privacy page has the full details.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI caption generator?

It is a tool that looks at a photo and writes captions for it. A good one reads the actual image and your chosen tone, instead of giving everyone the same list of quotes.

How do I get into Bestie?

Enter a passcode if you have one, or request an invite with your name and email. Members can also hand out plus ones to friends.

How do plus ones work?

Each member can make five plus ones. Each plus one is a passcode for a friend, and the friend gets plus ones too.

Can it write captions for photos of other people?

Yes. Choose someone else, say who it is, and set a roast level from sweet to savage. The jokes tease the pose or the moment, never looks or body.

Does it work for videos?

Not yet. The preview is built for still photos, so it is not meant for TikTok or Reels style video.

Which apps can I share to?

Anything on your phone's share sheet, including Instagram, Facebook, X and Snapchat. You can also save the picture or copy the caption text.

Does Bestie save my photos?

Bestie does not keep a copy of your photo. The photo is sent to Claude to write the captions, and the caption is placed on the picture on your phone.

Can the AI tell who is in my photo?

It is instructed not to name or guess who anyone is. It only describes what it sees, like the setting, the pose and the mood.

What if I do not like the captions?

Tap Give me more captions for a fresh set, or change the vibe, the boldness or the platform and run it again.
